When it comes to higher education, there are a lot of options for teaching students. Along with traditional schools that require in-person attendence, you can attend one of many reputable online schools. Some programs even offer a hybrid experience. Alternatively, you may choose a trade school that prepares you to enter the workforce with knowledge in a specific field.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Teaching Degree Search has created its Most Popular General Education Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Our analysis looked at 84 schools in the Southwest Region to see which programs were the most popular for teaching students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the General Education program at each school on the list.

Top 15% Most Popular General Education Schools
Our 2023 rankings named Grand Canyon University the most popular school in the Southwest Region for general education students. Located in the large city of Phoenix, Grand Canyon University is a private for-profit school with a very large student population.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Texas A&M University - College Station is a great place for general education students. Located in the midsize city of College Station, Texas A&M College Station is a public college with a fairly large student population.
The excellent programs at Texas Tech University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best general education schools in the Southwest Region . Texas Tech is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Lubbock.
Out of the 84 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Arlington landed the # 4 spot on the list. UT Arlington is a fairly large public school located in the city of Arlington.

The school came in at #5 on this year’s Most Popular General Education Schools in the Southwest Region list. The University of Texas at San Antonio ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular General Education Schools in the Southwest Region list. UTSA is a very large public school located in the large city of San Antonio.

University of Arizona ranked #11 on this year’s Most Popular General Education Schools in the Southwest Region list. Located in the city of Tucson, University of Arizona is a public school with a fairly large student population.

Trinity Valley Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular schools for general education students. It came in at #12 on the list. Located in the distant town of Athens, TVCC is a public school with a medium-sized student population.
On average, education graduates from TVCC take out $10,225 in student loans while working on their degree.
