Our analysis found Western Washington University to be the best school for teaching students who want to pursue a basic certificate in the Far Western US Region .
Students from Washington who attend WWU full time pay an average of $8,703 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $25,930.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at WWU. During the 2019-2020 year, about 6% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Washington State University is a great place for teaching students working on their basic certificate.

The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Spokane Falls Community College is $3,826. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $5,135.
Spokane Falls Community College does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In fact, around 89% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
The excellent basic certificate programs at Eastern Washington University helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best teaching schools in the Far Western US Region .
In-state students pay an average of $7,922 in tuition and fees if they attend EWU full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $25,748.
EWU does offer online classes for certain degree levels. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 93% took at least some of their classes online.
The excellent basic certificate programs at University of Nevada - Las Vegas helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the best teaching schools in the Far Western US Region .
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UNLV is $8,737. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $24,828.
UNLV does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In fact, around 99% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Western Oregon University landed the #6 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate teaching programs.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Western Oregon State College is $10,269. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $29,709.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Western Oregon State College. During the 2019-2020 year, about 98% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Alliant International University came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Best Teaching Basic Certificate Schools in the Far Western US Region ranking.
If you want to attend Alliant, expect to pay an average of $16,631 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid.
One thing to take note of is that Alliant does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 52% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.

Clark College landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate teaching programs.
Students from Washington who attend Clark College full time pay an average of $4,529 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,133.

To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 97% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Eastern Oregon University landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate teaching programs.
Students from Oregon who attend EOU full time pay an average of $9,696 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $22,386.

With a ranking of #11, Hawaii Pacific University did quite well on this year’s best schools for teaching students working on their basic certificate.
If you want to attend Hawaii Pacific University, expect to pay an average of $30,020 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Hawaii Pacific University. In fact, around 47% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Antioch University - Seattle did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for teaching students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #12 on the list.
If you want to attend Antioch University - Seattle, expect to pay an average of $22,035 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid.
Since Antioch University - Seattle is primarily an online school, it is an excellent choice for undergraduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
