This report analyzed 12 schools in Colorado to see which ones offered the best value bachelor's degree programs for teaching students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Our analysis found University of Northern Colorado to be the best value school for teaching students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Colorado. Located in Greeley, Colorado, the fairly large public school handed out 279 bachelor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs ranked #6 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Colorado list. Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the fairly large public school handed out 95 bachelor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.

University of Colorado Boulder did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for teaching students to get a bachelor’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list. Located in Boulder, Colorado, the large public school handed out 33 bachelor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate students at CU - Boulder are $38,358 a year. On average, bachelor’s degree students take out $20,697 in loans while pursuing their degree.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since CU - Boulder does offer online classes for certain majors. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 98% took at least some of their classes online.

Western Colorado University ranked #8 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Colorado list. This small public school is located in Gunnison, Colorado, and it awarded 15 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
