To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Teaching Degree Search has created its Best Value Teaching Doctor's Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. This report analyzed 13 schools in Georgia to see which ones offered the best value doctor's degree programs for teaching students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Our 2023 rankings named University of West Georgia the best value school in Georgia for teaching students working on their doctor’s degree. University of West Georgia is a fairly large public school situated in Carrollton, Georgia. It awarded 21 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
University of West Georgia graduate students pay an average of $18,980 in tuition and fees each year.
Online graduate courses are available at University of West Georgia, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2019-2020 year, about 95% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.

Columbus State University is a medium-sized public school located in Columbus, Georgia that handed out 23 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

One thing to take note of is that CSU does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 81% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.

You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at Augusta University. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 49% took at least some of their classes online.
University of Georgia ranked #7 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Located in Athens, Georgia, the large public school awarded 87 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for graduate students at UGA are $27,464 per year.

Piedmont College ranked #8 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Demorest, Georgia, and it awarded 16 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for graduate students at Piedmont College are $11,020 per year.
One thing to take note of is that Piedmont College does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 88% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Georgia Southern University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for teaching students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #9 on the list. Georgia Southern University is a large public school located in Statesboro, Georgia that handed out 24 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for graduate students at GaSou are $22,004 per year.
Online graduate courses are available at GaSou, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2019-2020 year, about 74% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Georgia State University came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. Georgia State is a large public school situated in Atlanta, Georgia. It awarded 46 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
