Our 2023 rankings named National University the most popular school in the Far Western US Region for teaching students working on their master’s degree. Located in La Jolla, California, the fairly large private not-for-profit school handed out 1,925 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 72% were women.
National University does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In 2019-2020 about 48% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Out of the 137 schools in the Far Western US Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Brandman University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Brandman is a private not-for-profit institution located in Irvine, California. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 784 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

California State University - East Bay landed the #19 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree teaching programs. This fairly large public school is located in Hayward, California, and it awarded 293 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

California State University - Northridge landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree teaching programs. This large public school is located in Northridge, California, and it awarded 291 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

California Baptist University ranked #21 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in the Far Western US Region list. California Baptist University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in Riverside, California that handed out 283 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Azusa Pacific University came in at #24 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in the Far Western US Region ranking. Azusa Pacific is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Azusa, California. It awarded 247 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 70% were women.
