As online education oppotunities continue to grow, you're not restricted to just schools in your local area anymore. Even some of the 'big name' schools are offering online courses. Also, there are a number of trade schools and bootcamps with offerings that you might find attractive.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Teaching Degree Search has created its Best Value Teaching Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. This report analyzed 26 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which ones offered the best value associate degree programs for teaching students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
This ranking is not just a list of inexpensive schools. We also consider each school's quality, since we believe a low-quality school may not be a 'bargain' at any price. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
For nationwide and regional rankings, we use out-of-state tuition and fees in our calculations. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Our 2023 rankings named Camden County College the best value school in the Middle Atlantic Region for teaching students working on their associate degree. Blackwood, New Jersey is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 86 students in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate students at Camden County College are $3,744 a year. On average, associate degree students take out $14,871 in loans while pursuing their degree.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Camden County College does offer online classes for certain majors. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 95% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Bronx Community College. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Value Teaching Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Located in Bronx, New York, the medium-sized public school handed out 12 associate degree awards in 2020-2021.
BCC undergraduate students pay an average of $8,086 in tuition and fees each year. On average, associate degree students take out $12,530 in loans while pursuing their degree.
One thing to take note of is that BCC does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 100% took at least some of their classes online.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend Essex County College. The school came in at #3 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Located in Newark, New Jersey, the medium-sized public school awarded 83 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2020-2021.
Essex undergraduate students pay an average of $8,966 in tuition and fees each year. Associate Degree recipients from this school accumulate an average of $11,116 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
One thing to take note of is that Essex does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 28% took at least some of their classes online.

The school came in at #4 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Located in Sewell, New Jersey, the medium-sized public school handed out 102 associate degree awards in 2020-2021.
RCSJ undergraduate students pay an average of $5,550 in tuition and fees each year. On average, associate degree students take out $15,568 in loans while pursuing their degree.

Hostos is located in Bronx, New York and has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 81 associate degrees to qualified students.

Harrisburg Area Community College landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value associate degree teaching programs. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 74 students in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at HACC are $9,818 per year. On average, associate degree students take out $22,678 in loans while pursuing their degree.
One thing to take note of is that HACC does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 50% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Delaware Technical Community College - Terry ranked #8 on this year’s Best Value Teaching Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Delaware Tech is a public institution located in Dover, Delaware. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 139 associate degrees in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Delaware Tech are $11,808 per year. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $12,683 in student loans.
