This report analyzed 9 schools in Washington to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for teaching students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named University of Washington - Seattle Campus the most popular school in Washington for teaching students working on their doctor’s degree. Seattle, Washington is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctor’s degrees to 51 students in 2020-2021.
Around 71% of those degree recipients were women.
UW Seattle does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. During the 2019-2020 year, about 7% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means City University of Seattle is a great place for teaching students working on their doctor’s degree. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Seattle, Washington, and it awarded 24 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 58% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at CityU. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 79% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
The excellent doctor’s degree programs at Washington State University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular teaching schools in Washington. Wazzu is a public institution located in Pullman, Washington. The school has a large population, and it awarded 22 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Wazzu does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. In 2019-2020 about 30% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means University of Washington - Tacoma Campus is a great place for teaching students working on their doctor’s degree. University of Washington - Tacoma Campus is a medium-sized public school located in Tacoma, Washington that handed out 19 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
UW Tacoma does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 4% took at least some of their classes online.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Gonzaga University. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Popular Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Washington list. Gonzaga is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Spokane, Washington. It awarded 11 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Seattle, Washington is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out doctor’s degrees to 7 students in 2020-2021.
Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at SPU. In 2019-2020 about 83% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Faith International University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for teaching students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Faith International University is a very small private not-for-profit school located in Tacoma, Washington that handed out 4 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 50% were women.
One thing to take note of is that Faith does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 45% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Western Washington University landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree teaching programs.
Online graduate courses are available at WWU, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 12% took at least some of their classes online.
