Our analysis looked at 15 schools in Connecticut to see which master's degree programs were the most popular for teaching students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named University of Connecticut the most popular school in Connecticut for teaching students working on their master’s degree. This large public school is located in Storrs, Connecticut, and it awarded 230 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 73% were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at UCONN. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 74% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Out of the 15 schools in Connecticut that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Saint Joseph landed the # 2 spot on the list. USJ is a private not-for-profit institution located in West Hartford, Connecticut. The school has a small population, and it awarded 229 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 86% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at USJ. During the 2019-2020 year, about 21% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Out of the 15 schools in Connecticut that were part of this year’s ranking, Central Connecticut State University landed the # 3 spot on the list. This medium-sized public school is located in New Britain, Connecticut, and it awarded 199 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 72% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that CCSU does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 95% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Sacred Heart University is a great place for teaching students working on their master’s degree. Sacred Heart University is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in Fairfield, Connecticut that handed out 173 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 76% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Sacred Heart does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 64% took at least some of their classes online.
The excellent master’s degree programs at University of Bridgeport helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular teaching schools in Connecticut. Bridgeport, Connecticut is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out master’s degrees to 139 students in 2020-2021.
Around 72% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at UBridgeport. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 53% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #6, Southern Connecticut State University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for teaching students working on their master’s degree. Located in New Haven, Connecticut, the medium-sized public school awarded 136 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 79% of those degree recipients were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at SCSU. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 93% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #7, Quinnipiac University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for teaching students working on their master’s degree. Quinnipiac is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Hamden, Connecticut. It awarded 112 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 88% were women.
Quinnipiac does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In 2019-2020 about 52% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Fairfield University ranked #8 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Connecticut list. This medium-sized private not-for-profit school is located in Fairfield, Connecticut, and it awarded 80 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 84% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Fairfield U. In 2019-2020 about 78% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
University of Hartford landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree teaching programs. University of Hartford is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in West Hartford, Connecticut that handed out 76 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 93% were women.
UHart does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 67% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Eastern Connecticut State University landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree teaching programs. ECSU is located in Willimantic, Connecticut and has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 68 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 76% were women.

Post University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for teaching students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #11 on the list. Post University is a private for-profit institution located in Waterbury, Connecticut. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 65 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 71% were women.

Western Connecticut State University came in at #12 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Connecticut ranking. Located in Danbury, Connecticut, the small public school handed out 42 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 83% were women.
One thing to take note of is that WestConn does offer online graduate classes in some areas. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 92% took at least some of their classes online.
Albertus Magnus College ranked #13 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Connecticut list. New Haven, Connecticut is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out master’s degrees to 5 students in 2020-2021.
