This report analyzed 14 schools in Georgia to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for teaching students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found University of Georgia to be the most popular school for teaching students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in Georgia. Athens, Georgia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctor’s degrees to 87 students in 2020-2021.
Around 63% of those degree recipients were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at UGA. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 18% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Georgia State University is a great place for teaching students working on their doctor’s degree. This large public school is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and it awarded 46 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Valdosta, Georgia is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctor’s degrees to 36 students in 2020-2021.

The excellent doctor’s degree programs at Kennesaw State University helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular teaching schools in Georgia. Kennesaw, Georgia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctor’s degrees to 28 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
One thing to take note of is that KSU Georgia does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In 2019-2020 about 88% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Georgia Southern University. The school came in at #5 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Located in Statesboro, Georgia, the large public school awarded 24 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 63% were women.
GaSou does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 74% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #6, Columbus State University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for teaching students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in Columbus, Georgia, the medium-sized public school awarded 23 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.

University of West Georgia came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. This fairly large public school is located in Carrollton, Georgia, and it awarded 21 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 62% of those degree recipients were women.
University of West Georgia does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. During the 2019-2020 year, about 95% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Clark Atlanta University came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. CAU is located in Atlanta, Georgia and has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 17 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
Around 53% of those degree recipients were women.

Piedmont College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for teaching students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #10 on the list. Augusta University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for teaching students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #11 on the list. Augusta, Georgia is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctor’s degrees to 10 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 70% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Augusta University does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 49% took at least some of their classes online.
University of North Georgia came in at #12 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. Located in Dahlonega, Georgia, the fairly large public school awarded 6 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 67% were women.
UNG does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In 2019-2020 about 66% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Brenau University ranked #13 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Located in Gainesville, Georgia, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 2 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at Brenau. In 2019-2020 about 56% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Emory University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for teaching students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #14 on the list.
