This report analyzed 19 schools in Kentucky to see which ones were the most popular master's degree programs for teaching students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found University of the Cumberlands to be the most popular school for teaching students who want to pursue a master’s degree in Kentucky. Williamsburg, Kentucky is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out master’s degrees to 1,311 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 75% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at Cumberlands. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 99% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means University of Louisville is a great place for teaching students working on their master’s degree. University of Louisville is a large public school located in Louisville, Kentucky that handed out 377 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 58% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that UofL does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 68% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
The excellent master’s degree programs at Eastern Kentucky University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular teaching schools in Kentucky. Eastern is located in Richmond, Kentucky and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 177 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 79% were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at Eastern. In 2019-2020 about 79% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Georgetown College is a great place for teaching students working on their master’s degree. Located in Georgetown, Kentucky, the small private not-for-profit school awarded 168 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 79% of those degree recipients were women.
Since the graduate programs at Georgetown College are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Murray State University. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Kentucky list. Located in Murray, Kentucky, the medium-sized public school handed out 150 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 75% were women.
Murray State does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In 2019-2020 about 60% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
University of Kentucky ranked #6 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Kentucky list. Located in Lexington, Kentucky, the large public school awarded 129 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 73% of those degree recipients were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since UK does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. In fact, around 57% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Campbellsville University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for teaching students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list. Campbellsville University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Campbellsville, Kentucky. It awarded 121 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Bellarmine University ranked #11 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Kentucky list. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Louisville, Kentucky, and it awarded 54 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Bellarmine U. In 2019-2020 about 38% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
With a ranking of #12, Spalding University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for teaching students working on their master’s degree. Spalding University is a small private not-for-profit school located in Louisville, Kentucky that handed out 44 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Kentucky Christian University came in at #17 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Kentucky ranking. Located in Grayson, Kentucky, the very small private not-for-profit school handed out 5 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Around 80% of those degree recipients were women.
Kentucky Christian University is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each graduate student at the school took at least one class online.
Kentucky State University ranked #17 on this year’s Most Popular Teaching Master’s Degree Schools in Kentucky list. This small public school is located in Frankfort, Kentucky, and it awarded 5 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 40% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at KY State. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 59% took at least some of their classes online.
University of Pikeville landed the #19 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree teaching programs.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at UPIKE. During the 2019-2020 year, about 12% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
