To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our 2023 rankings named Bowling Green State University - Main Campus the most popular online school in the United States for special education students working on their basic certificate. Located in the fringe town of Bowling Green, BGSU is a public school with a large student population.

About 95% of the students majoring in special ed at the school are women while 5% are male.

Out of the 15 online programs at schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, Alliant International University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Alliant is a small private for-profit school located in the large city of San Diego.
